At our roots, Hollywood Hamilton Clothing is a streetwear brand focused on creating casual streetwear apparel using the best quality materials and production. With small batch production and exclusive limited releases, our collaborations with some of the world's most influential street, pop, and graffiti artists create pieces that are more than just a piece of clothing. They become almost that of a piece of art.

 

For our latest project, we set out to create a true piece of street art.  While street art murals pop up on unsuspecting street corners and remain until they are painted over, we wanted a piece of street art that could be found, truly in the street. Using one of Audi's most rare cars ever produced as a canvas, we partnered with one of the nation's most renowned shops, Metrowrapz, to create a moving piece of street art. Located in one of the epicenters of the street art world, we took our car down to Miami for what we thought was truly a perfect place to make this project come to life.

The Audi R8 GT was produced in 2012 with a limited production of only 333 vehicles worldwide, while producing only 50 for the US market.  While the R8 was produced in the V8 and V10 models, the GT boasts the V10 engine but comes with a ton of extras.   The R8 GT is lighter, stiffer, and more powerful than the V-10-powered R8 coupe it's based upon. And, with a top speed of 199 mph, it's the fastest road car the German firm has ever produced.  When compared to your normal V10 R8, the GT features extreme amounts of carbon fiber.  With an original MSRP of over $247,000, our #147 of 333 features unique carbon features like carbon windscreen, carbon mirrors, carbon rear diffuser, carbon door inserts, carbon center console, carbon vents, carbon splitters, and carbon front lip....just to name a FEW!

The inspiration for the overall designs comes from several places, but graffiti and street art are where the concept started.  When you look at the little details, every pattern, logo, and piece of art can all be found in previous collection designs from Hollywood Hamilton.  Patterns recreated in new colorways bring the black/white/red concept to match perfectly to the R8 GT palette.  The true concept derives from graffiti tags and lifestyle.  While our signature Zig-Zag pattern can be found prominently running across the drivers side, white paint drips down over the vehicle as if someone has thrown a bucket of paint over the car to create a blank canvas.  On the passenger side of the car, the word HMLTN can be seen dripping down across as if HMLTN himself has tagged over the freshly laid red paint with a Krink pen. The abstract pattern which was released as a bomber jacket a few season back, can be seen throughout the front and rear of the vehicle.

The way the design was created, looking at the vehicle from each angle (drivers side, passenger, and even the corners) was to invoke a new look and feel.  All of the details from the matching red brake calipers to the interior red stitching they all come together for one cohesive piece.  Even the door jams feature the abstract patterns to match the illuminated red GT emblems in the frame.
